mods please feel free to replace this post in the appropriate section if already covered.
as to my issue at hand.
I just purchased a really good condition(originally Arizona car) 240 wagon
its a 1986 model(made January 1986) with auto trans and the b230f engine.
just last night it developed a noise in the rear end that simulates a huge solid chunk of ice rubbing on the roadway(think of the noise when you kick one of those huge ice chunks)
it comes and goes but is noticeable when I am doing around 30 mph. there are no other possible symptoms as to why it would be doing this. no bumps and the vehicle runs perfectly as its not present.
if I rev the engine a tad it goes away for awhile.
I know there are a few other minor issues with it but I doubt they are related
(brakes in rear drag a tad on occasion from the 2 year sit the P/O put it through, brake booster has an issue at times when cold outside with a hard pedal)
what could be causing this issue? there is also no physical that im aware of or can see blockage or snow build of any kind.
