My 240DL had been sitting for the past two years due to four faulty wires (insulation had disintegrated) in the engine wiring harness. Car was running fine when I discovered the faulty wires. Other priorities kept me from completing the repairs. This past week I finally got around to replacing the faulty wires in the harness. Just finished putting everything back together and started her up. Engine started after a few cranks, but engine speed increased quickly to 4000+ rpm. Shut it down immediately. Subsequent restarts produced the same results. I am pretty sure that I got all of the vacuum connections correct. Would a faulty fuel pressure regulator cause this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
