I am planning on replacing the headgasket on one of the B230 engines this Spring. It is in a 1994 940 sedan, has 240K miles on it and has been using a little anti-freeze. I'm temporarily stopping the leak with a half tube of silver solder. The engine runs great.
I have wondered how long these engines would go without a valve job? These red block engines are amazing to me since I remember the old days with leaded gas when 60K miles was about as long as I could go without a valve job on my 1972 Datsun 510. I got my first brick in 1985 and have driven nothing else since.
So, should I grind the valves on the head when I put in a new head gasket?
