Catalytic Converter Noise 89 240 200 1989

My Catalytic Converter's insides are falling apart.
I read this am on BB that I could remove it and
"shake" out the loose parts. I removed it,
along with the exhaust pipes and rear mufflers and
realized that the loose parts will not shake out
and that the "front" screen on the converter is
intact. I did not have ample time to remove the pipe/converter
from the front muffler to attempt to 'shake' the
loose parts out of the rear of the converter, is
that possible? If the front screen on the converter
is in good shape is she still working and doing its thing?

Thank ahead for your knowledge,
Joseph Segura
