This is an update to my previous post of two hours earlier.
The sound is more of a muffled whistle and is coming from the engine
near the bottom rear, maybe near to the manual transmission.
The sound seems to build up and once it starts it will not go away
unless the rpm is decreased. The engine looses horse power once the
whistle starts. The whistle begins when the engine's rmp is raised,
usually when near 40-50 mph. Once the whistle starts the car starts to slow down
and will not increase in speed, will not regain speed either, it will
just stay at near 45mph. After a short rest/break the process
returns again once the rpm increases. The sound is there in all
gears, neutral and park, once the engine rpm increases.
To be more precise the sound
is more like a screeching monkey. It is not a belt or pulley.
Please help,
Joseph in New Mexico
