Volvo 240 Sedan 1991 157,000 miles.
Hi all,
I finished my cross country trip (put on about 8,000 miles). Other than the clamor of a worn rear shock bushing, no real problems. Upon arriving to San Francisco, I did change the oil. Since the last change (5,000 miles), I only had to refill it will a quart of oil, which didn't seem far from normal for an old car, and I'd imagine that due to lots of highway driving the oil might be burning off at a higher rate.
But opening up my hood for a standard checkup, I noticed some leaking (around what looks like the gasket and the coolant pump). I looked through my Bentley manual but didn't find any exact causes, or whether a gasket might be shot. I've included some images for diagnoses. I cleaned up the spot, drove it around, and the oil is back in the same location.
Thanks for your help,
Jimmy
