blower motor loose wire 200 1989

Here is a "good one"-NOT!!>>> The dreaded replacment of the blower (motor) fan in our 240. An expensive time consuming job, usually around $500-$600 in just the labor. So looked around and talked to my good old independent man, Dave, would do the job for $200 labor. I bought the blower motor, and here's a "good one": found a place sells the motors to dealers, new motor about $57; suggested retail from a dealer, about $300--no sh**.

So Dave starts the "project, later calls me up, problem? A ground wire came loose, nothing wrong with the motor! "@$#&^$@&*&$" I should feel lucky?? Yeah right. That motor had been in about 8 years. A loose wire! Well since I already had a new motor, at only $57, I told him just put the new one in. Not like the motor was hundred$! The labor would be the same; fix a loose wire?, might as well put in the new motor.

The loose wire was not Daves fault by any means. Turns out the ground wire coming from the motor was put together with the wire from the grounding place with one of those little electrical wire "clamp" things, one wire in each end, clamp it down. Those things can't be trusted. Dave stripped the ends of both wires, twisted them tight together and wrapped them tightly with electrical tape. They wont come loose.

I guess I might consider myself "lucky" that I didnt go to one of the "$600 for labor" places for a f&*@%&*&%^#@% loose wire. We gave Dave the "old motor" since he knows for sure it's a good one. At least that felt good. We could have kept the "old" motor, but seemed like a better thing to do.

Anyway at $57 for a new one, wasn't really worth it to keep it, but someone might get use from it. I would bet Dave would sell it real cheap like maybe $15-$20. Don't quote me on that.

Looks like sunshine tomorrow.
