My 745t was at the epicenter of HAILAGEDDON 2014 here in PA last month. All sheet metal and trim damage. Travelers said it was worth $1500 and would I please send them the title? I basically said, "I can't buy a car this nice, safe and reliable for that amount," so they upped it to $2,700, if I want to give up the car. If I retain the car, they'll pay me $2,200, but I'll have to go through the onerous PA process of getting a rebuilt title.
The car has 225,000 on the clock, a brand-spankin-new R134 a/c compressor, two-year-old alternator and over-sized stainless cat-back exhaust. The old girl will jump up and run, drives well, and I can see out of it (unlike my '04 V70R, which is like trying to drive a cave while wearing blinders).
Now, this is not the best example of this model around. P.o. wiped out the entire left side and that old body repair is starting to show itself. The rocker panel is bent behind the right front wheel (presumably by the p.o.), so that sunroof drain doesn't drain very well. It's got that intermittent hot-weather no-crank thing, and despite the new compressor, the a/c currently is not functioning. Just passed PA inspection but it will need new snow tires this winter.
Here's the sanity check part: the emotional me feels that this car is being taken from me and that has me upset. The rational me says $2,700 is a fair price for this car and I should move on. Thoughts and comments?
