I am considering buying a 1998 V90. Do you have suggestions of typical problem areas I should ask a mechanic to look over?

I met the current owners tonight. The car appears to be in overall decent condition and drives like a charm. The current owners have had the car for about 12 years. They let me know the check engine light has come on a couple of times this year and each time they have paid to get it looked at and the light has then gone away -- without any apparent diagnosis.

The current owners don't seem to be too knowledgeable about the mechanics of the vehicle but they have meticulous with record retention. They have a huge stack of maintenance records and do seem to be honest. They've agreed for me to take it for a pre-purchase inspection.

The car has 149,000 miles. Here is a list of its recent service history (other than regular oil changes):

Radiator hose clamp replaced
Cooling system checked
Heater control valve replaced

Oh, they are asking 3800. I think this seems fair. Do you? Thanks for your input!!
