Grilling questions about proper 71 142s Grille 140-160 1971

I kind of bought the car to fit onto the old grille that I have had around for so many years :) I knew the grille on the car was obviously incorrect, so I thought here is my chance to Finally use that old grill that has been following me around for so long. I thought it had to be the right one because I believed this grille was only made for 2 years. But unless I am missing something the grille I was so hoping to use does not look like it is correct? None of the holes on the grille match up to what is on the car. What's going on here!?!
