Hi everyone. I've looked at the fairly extensive discussion surrounding windscreen interchangability between the 140 and 240 series. I've decided that the best course of action for me and my recently acquired (and sans-windscreen) 142 is to install the trimless flush fitting gasket screen found on the later 240s. Most of the original metal trim clips on the 142 are badly rusted, but the majority of the windscreen recess is pretty good.
I would like to clarify a few things.
1) I'm presuming the original metal trim clips need to be removed in their entirity so the recess will accept the flush fitting gasket.
2) From what I can gather, the metal trim clips are welded onto the windscreen frame and the most sensible way to remove them is by grinding them off with an angle grinder (I initially tried using a Dremel but it was a waste of time)
3) I will also need to install some drainage/weep holes in the bottom of the windscreen surround behind the flush fitting gasket.
If somebody who has done the 140/240 screen swap can shed some light on these 3 points, I would be very grateful. I'm not looking to bring this car to concorse standards, just a stylish and practical daily driver.
