Hi Folks,
I hope this topic doesn't sound too morbid, but curious minds need to know...
If your trusty Volvo 240 were hit with an EMP blast, exactly what parts would be effected?
Recently I viewed the 1980's nuclear holocaust film "The Day After", which has the classic scene where the doctor is driving his 245 on the highway when the airburst A-bomb hits and all the cars on the highway stop dead. The EMP burst from the blast knocks out electrical components in the vehicles, stopping them.
So what parts are knocked out?
The ECU's I'm sure. The relays? What else?
And say you were in ultimate prepper mode, how would you stash electrical parts to protect them from an EMP blast? Lead lined box?
Just curious really. If an EMP blast (solar flare or man made attack) ever did hit I don't think having one of the few operating cars would be of much help as the streets would be packed with dead cars anyway...
