I am trying to address the brake light staying on issue on the 71 142. I found the junction block by the booster, and there is a sensor with a blade on top coming out of that block. There was no wire on it, but I did find a stray wire with a blade connecter on it floating around without a home in the vicinity of the junction block, so I was able to get it routed so that it fit onto the sensor. I am not certain that is where it goes, but I gave it a whirl. The brake light on the dash continues to stay on. The brake fluid looks more like coffee than brake fluid, and it is on my short list of things to change, but what does the sensor actually sense? Can dirty fluid cause the light to stay on?
Also, I have not tried to break the bleeders free yet, but I will start PB blasting them in preparation for the fluid change. I talked to the guy at the shop who does the BG flush, and he says that his procedure is the only way to flush the fluid properly. His logic is his BG machine pulses and gets all the crud out, and he says when bleeding the fluid through it just flows over the crud not removing it. The thing I don't get is how his machine can clean out all crud, and flush all of the fluid, without opening the bleeders? Anyone know the best way to get the brake fluid, lines, and calipers the cleanest?
