Car won't shift into overdrive 900 1993

I recently replaced my solenoid w/cable as the old cable broke. The car shifted into overdrive without a problem before the cable breaking. I hear the relay clicking and the solenoid clicking but no response from tranny. I drove the car for a short period of time before I got the the new solenoid from Volvo. Never pushed the tranny above 40-45 when it was not working properly. Any thoughts?
