Replacing Ignition Lock Cylinder on 940? 900

Has anyone replaced an ignition lock cylinder on a 940? I am informed that one need not remove the steering wheel and airbag and that it's accessible just by removing the steering wheel covers and bolster, held in place by a push pin. Is that indeed the case? Any tips on the job?
My lock is still sluggish, so if it's not a big deal I plan to remove, clean, lube, and replace the lock cylinder.
