'85 740 GLE Wagon clutch cable breaks at pedal repaired twice 700 1985

Bought at 158K now 193. In june '13 clutch cable broke at pedal. Replaced. Told that arm to clutch would need to be replaced. Dec 13, clutch cable broke again did full clutch (everything). Today clutch cable broke again. Have driven clutch all my life, cars and motorcycles. Why would two cables fail in such a short time 2K or less miles. Had adjustment done after the clutch total repair. Parts or repair at issue?
