Hey all,
I have a 1992 Volvo 240 Sedan. Last year I looked for a nice set of new tires and ran across the suggestion that 195-65-14 was a good size, though a little different from stock. I bought a set of that size Falken Ziex ZE912 for a very low price (under $200 shipped) from Discount Tire Direct.
After I put them on I did notice an improvement in handling, but I have to say these tires are miserable with respect to grip and wear. I've gotten hopelessly stuck on paved embankments and they are probably more than 50% through after about 12k miles.
Does anyone have a good recommendation? Summer tires are fine as I'm in Los Angeles and never experience more than light rain.
(I'll add that I have Kumho Solus KR21 tires in almost the same size--195 70 14--on my Mercedes 300D W123 and they have outperformed the Falkens in every way possible for my purposes. Anyone using those on a Volvo 240?)
