Rumbling in AT around 25-30 mph 200 1989

I test drove a 1989 240 with unknown mileage. The transmission shifted smoothly and went into reverse without hesitating. However, around 25-30 mph, the car consistently shook a little but made a deep rumbling noise, like gargling with mouthwash but deeper. It stopped when I put the car in neutral and revved the engine. What would be the cause of that? Thanks
