84' 240 stalls when put in gear 200 1984

I have a 1984 240DL wagon. It starts and has an erratic idle but when put in gear with the brakes on it dies. If I quick put it in gear and let the brake go before it builds up a load it will continue to run but dies when I try to drive it. It will rev up in park just fine. I tested the fuel output at the fuel rail and it is fine. I removed the air mass meter and no change happened. When it is running I can take off the oil filler cap and there is no change in it's running. I can't find any vacuum leaks. also I removed the spark plug wires one at a time and it seemed to make no difference in its erratic idle. HELP!!!!
