The time has finally come to upgrade my 1994 940's audio system. The turning point was the degradation of the rear deck speakers.
I have read the FAQs on this in detail (super helpful!) and have the rear deck speakers removed (as well as rear seat, etc). I intend to try to use the existing speaker wires rather than run new wires.
I am hoping to get a relatively inexpensive aftermarket stereo and rear speakers on craigslist to install but i did have a couple of basic questions.
I have a wiring harness on order but i believe that i still need to bypass the old amplifier, is that correct? Do i need to run some wires other than the harness to do this (i think that i do).
Will I need an amplifier? I am hopeful the aftermarket stereo that i pick up will have enough power to power the existing speakers (front and rear deck), assuming i don't get some giant replacements in the back. Is that a good assumption?
Thanks a lot.
