Update.
A few of you might remember that my 1992 240 had a transmission problem not too long ago. I got it running again by dropping the pan, installing a new filter screen, and flushing the transmission fluid. Last week, the transmission failed again as my son was driving home from school.
With the help of MTD240, I was able to purchase the used auto transmission and torque converter from his brother's recently wrecked 245. We spent about 4 hours in his driveway on Saturday pulling it out of the car. Thanks Mike for your help, I had a great time by the way.
My son is taking the tranny to his high school auto shop class and will install it in our 1992 245 over the next couple of weeks. Can you gents help me identify what parts we need to buy to complete the transmission swap? Here's what I've come up with so far.
1. Shifter linkage bushing.
2. ATF fluid Mercon/Dexron.
3. ATF filter screen.
4. Tranny pan gasket.
5. Rear main seal?
Anything else?
Since we needed another vehicle urgently, I went ahead and bought myself a "new" 1998 C70 Coupe. :)
It's a totally different world! So far it's great fun.
Thanks,
13
