Charging issues? Corrosion?? 900 1994

A month or so back I replaced a dead battery in the wifes '94 940 turbo ...no start situation after dying. Checked the alternator at the battery with a meter, it showed over 14 output.

Last night it died on her on the way home ...would start ..run a mile or so ...not that smoothly, and die. She did this three times before I got there.

I loosed and tighened the batt connectors, and drove it home ...20 miles. The alternator was very hot. Checked the alternator. It puts out about 13.8.

New alt? Apparently the bearings are heating up. Anything I am missing?

Note. I think I read in the FAQs about corrossion in one of the cables being hard to detect, but I can't find where I read that. (The cables look fine)

Anyone know which cable?

Thanks ...
