Hello
New Member here. We recently built a Chump car from a 940 volvo. when we ran it at Watkins Glen last week end we had an issue with hard acceleration.
A little history. The motor is stock with the turbo and turbo has been rebuilt. We opened up the the exhaust with a three inch pipe and opened the intake box a little. Under hard acceleration (mash the throttle) the engine would start to cut out like it was starving for fuel. If you eased off the throttle it would pick it self back up and start to accelerate. If accelerated by easing the throttle down slowly you could get it up to RPM. We put a boost gauge on it would read as high as 14+ psi and the problem seemed to be once you got over about 10psi. We are thinking we have an overboost problem or injectors that are not supplying enough fuel?? The fuel pump is new and we have suffcient fuel pressure according to the gauge we attached.
Looking for suggestions on what to check or if you guys have had similar problems.
