Battery for Older 240s - with End Tab tray holders. 200

For reference and maybe to up date the Search Function with a new entry.

just to report on my acquisition of a new one for my 1980 244.

Needed a battery with a Case that had Bottom Tabs and Positive Post on the Left.

Had a Group 24 in it. EXIDE Select 24-84N. Web search said this was Replaced by the EXIDE 24S.

NB. Not all current group 24 batteries have the required lower tabs that are required with the Old Style Volvo battery trays. The Walmart EVERSTART 24 series had a smooth bottom...NO TABS.

What I got was from TSC Tractor Supply...the "farm" store. Have inStock EXIDE 24 series with the bottom tabs.

Choices were:

Exide 24C...Classic $70
Exide 24S ...NASCAR Select $90

These are "referenced" as Truck/SUV batteries.

Exide 24 series with a F(ord) in it have the Posts Reversed. Positive on the Right.

I got the $70 one, since I don't drive this 240 much, and remove the Battery in the winter. My old one probably died from too many discharges. But it is the "spare" car in the winter...AKA the one that drives to the parts store when neeeded.
