Brake warning switch? master cylinder? 200 1984

Thought I would take the '84 240 turbo wagon out for a charge the battery, cruise the beach spin. My brake failure light came on and the brake pedal sank to about half way to the floor ( luckily they worked).I don't see any leaking at the junction box where the switch is but it seems like one of the circuits is down. I really don't feel like messing with brake fittings when it has been -0 the past few nights. Should I replace the whole junction box or try and replace just the switch itself? I tried stomping on the pedal to try and center the system but no go. Thoughts?
Thanks, Philvo
