Slight hissing sound from A/C heater control unit 900 1994

My 940 has developed a tiny hissing sound from I believe is coming from the heater A/C control unit.. I only notice it when the control nob is set to upper vent (vents in the dash) or a the combination of upper and floor...The hissing sound disappears when the settings area turned to defrost or defrost and floor..So I suspect it's the actual unit that has a problem...Am i correct with my assumption.. As always thanks in advance..
