Curious - why did my intermediate seal pop out 200 1993

Good afternoon,

93 240 w/ 356K. Runs well.

Oil change last weekend. Been using synthetic for the last 200K and oil separator box was changed out about 100K ago so I don't think I have "breathing" issues but for some reason the intermediate shaft popped out. My wife drove the car to work with no issues for the past 4 days until yesterday, when she said the oil light came on occasionally, with no reference to rpms. I figured I must have bumped the sender and she got home ok with no issues other than the light coming on irregularly. I checked he sender connection and it was fine.

Just fyi, the front engine seals were replaced about 150K ago. Camshaft seal looks fine, although it is the orange Elring. The main seal a brown viton also looks ok although there appears to be a little rust on the crank on the exterior of the seal.

Any thoughts here. I have a volvo oe seal to replace the intermediate shaft seal with. I suppose I could check for proper crank venting. What's the standard static method. The flame trap is relatively clean.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I'm a bit perplexed, and my engine bay and below is monstrously oiled up.
