Fellow Volvo Owners,
I recently bought a 1986 Volvo 240 as a candidate for a Turbocharged 16 Valve/T5 set-up. I have owned a couple of these cars and I thought I was well aware of their quirks. However, I ran into a couple issues that I can't seem to figure out. First, from the minute the key turns to the on position there is a constant chime that will not stop. This is after cleaning all connections in the fuse box and replacing the sensors in the door jams. They were inexpensive so I started there. It did not help. I noticed that if I hit my shoulder on the door it will stop briefly and then start again. What else can I check? Also, this car does not have instrument lights or center console lights. The seat belt warning comes on briefly, but goes out without the seat belt being fastened once the engine is started. I assumed the instrument lights might be the rheostat and I thought about bypassing it until I can find a good used replacement. My passenger side parking light is out, but the bulb is new. Any other things to check for these issues?
