Oil pressure light 200 1989

My oil pressure light has been flicking off and on rapidly for a month or so. But, it does not come on unless I have less than a 1/2 tank of gas. Fill it up and all is well. My 245 has over 400,000 miles and I have done the normal maintenance, replaced water pumps, and an alternator. I have read the threads concerning oil pressure lights, but nothing matches my situation. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
