122 ignition coil 120-130

I would like to replace the coil in my 1967 122S but of course it has the anti-theft cable attached to the igniton.. Is there some way to by pass the anti- theft thing and just use a standard 12 volt coil ? My coil still works but I am wondering if is a bit weak as there is some hestation and kicking when I step on the gas.. It also has a Petronix ignition.. Thanks in advance
