Central locking problems - wagon - solved (fuse_8) 200 1990

Solution: corroded ends, fuse_8. And tailgate wiring for related problem. (Car is new to a friend.) Moral(s): Occam's Razor; double-check your work,

Problems: Central locks work once in a while from the key or driver's door lock-knob. Sometimes all doors would lock from the key or knob but only one would unlock; sometimes they all would unlock from the key; .... fast buzz from relay(s). Bulb-out warning light comes on intermittently while driving; and always when the brake pedal is pressed - all lights work. Dome light comes on sometimes when you open the door. When the dome switch is turned on (rear position), the key-warning chimes.

Problems indicated frayed wires where they enter the driver's door and/or a corroded/failing lock-actuator; perhaps also a corroded door dome-light/key-warning button. I pulled the door panel (for other reasons also). In one of the threads Art B twice mentioned fuse_8 (see below). I'd cleaned all the fuse contacts and fuse ends but I checked again. I hadn't done a good job cleaning and there was corrosion on the ends of fuse_8. I re-cleaned the ends of the fuse and it seems solved.

Before I worked on the door, I found bad wiring at the tailgate hinges and replaced + rerouted the wires. That cured the blinking bulb-warning light and dome light problems but not the central-locking problems.
