Carpet Vs. Rubber floor mats 444-544 1964

Hi all,

As the restoration continues, the time has come to tackle the interior. Sound and heat block is already on it's way, but I'm unsure if going with Original rubber or one of the carpet kits (I'm eyeballing the one from VP) is the way to go.

This car had rubber in it before, and it was very worn down. Still, it was easy to maintain and clean. Part of me thinks that carpet would be a nice touch, but I'm concerned it will look out of place in such an old car, especially if I colour match it to the rest of the interior (which is red).

Beyond looks, are there any advantages / disadvantages between the two? Any opinions on the VP carpet kits? Do they fit snug, and are they robust?

Ultimately I plan to daily drive this thing (year round) when it's done so my choice should probably reflect that.

If anyone has any pictures of these carpet kits installed in their 544s (or 122s i suppose,) I would really appreciate being able to take a peak at them. Being able to see what these kits look like inside a car would really help me decide which way to go. I've looked online but haven't come up with much of anything.

thanks in advance, you guys always have good info here
