M46 Issues 200

This happens at about one out of every ten traffic lights/stop signs during my daily commute.

I am sitting at a red light in 1st gear with the clutch depressed. Light turns green. I let off the clutch and as soon as I hit the gas, the shifter pops out of 1st and into neutral. Push in the clutch, slam the shifter back into 1st (usually grinds) and I am off. I also feel a clunk in the rear end when I put it back into 1st after it has popped out.

Otherwise tranny shifts fine. Clutch was replaced about 1,000 miles ago and it did not do this before the clutch job.

Any ideas?
