New lock set issues 444-544

After trying to install new door and trunk locks, I am running into problems. The key will not rotate more than 1/8 of a turn. I am not over tightening the set screw so that's not the problem. It rotates just fine when not in the lock. The originals work without a problem. Any suggestions? In case some of you are wondering why I am replacing them, the square shafts are getting rounded off and showing signs of imminent failure.
