mechanical fuel pump B-20 eng. 140-160

Hey to all, Just started the engine for the first time. I`m running a Weber DGV 32/36 carb. The fuel pump came from IPD 5 years ago(still new). Just wandering about fuel psi. I read that 2 pounds is the desired number for fuel psi. I also read that 4 pounds is the number. A Mr.Gasket fuel pressure regulator with the dial on the face and gauge was installed to check the psi. It appears that its putting out around 4 to 5 psi. I also read that these regulators leak after a while. I was told that IPD a while back had some fuel pumps that put out to much psi. Its a scan-tech pump and the IPD part number on the box is 2C0249, the pump that they sell now is the same number with a K on the end. I really don`t want to regulate this psi. because it is a pulse rather than constant psi.(electric fuel pump). I think the pulse is probably hard on the pressure regulator. This eng. is in a 544 but I`m posting here because of the B-20. Thanks for any help. Larry
