I had to replace my V90s taillight lenses because the inner plastic sections that holds the bulb holders in place had begun to crack and melt. I thought I was prepared when I took a digital photo of the left side, and then didn't bother with the right, thinking the color codes would be the same. Unfortunately they weren't but nonetheless I think I have things hooked up right. But just to be sure, I'm wondering if anyone here can confirm what the taillight wire for the right side is.
I'm thinking it's the brown wire with what looks like a pink stripe. On the left side, it's the red wire. But there is no red wire on the right side. On the right, there are two brown wires with stripes -- one white and one pinkish. I think the brown/white one is for the backup lights -- don't recall now offhand.
Ok, the problem I'm running into now is I'm not getting any voltage to the wire's connecter. The connector is still connected properly to the wire as near as I can tell. I'm not just checking the contact on the lens assembly, but the actual connector itself.
I took a look at the fuses and noticed that there is no fuse with a label to indicate that it's for the tail lights. Even the fuses that list more than one circuit, none of them list the tail lights as being part of any fuse's multiple circuits. And yes, I checked every single fuse to make sure I didn't have any burnt out ones.
I've got voltage to the left side. Everything is working fine there. Just no voltage on the right side to any wire that would indicate it is for the tail light. For example, I turn the key on and the left side tail light illuminates and I check every wire on the right side and none of them is showing 12v.
So I guess my first question is, is there another fuse somewhere that I should know about? That doesn't seem likely to me. Maybe I should try clipping off the original spade connector and install a new one? What would you do in a case like this?
It's driving me a little nuts. I need to get this car to pass inspection so I can renew the tags, which should have happened Friday. Oops.
Any thoughts you'd care to provide would be appreciated. Thanks.
