pink wire by battery function 700 1992

Hi All,
does anybody know the factory intent of the unattached pink wire near the battery in my 92 740T? My memory is that it has to do with testing or bypassing the ignition switch and neutral safety switch (NSS) but darn if I can find that in the archives today. 5 years ago I had one no crank situation and looks like I rigged a wire from the starter solenoid ready to plug into that pink wire if it happened again. What was I doing? It just happened again today again 5 years later so I am thinking about it. My read of the wiring diagram tells me power to that wire also goes thru the same 2 switches so I wouldn't be doing anything. Am I wrong? Is that wire just switched power only there during cranking to be used in testing?
