Melted fuse turn signal when flasher used 700 1985

Clutch cable broke for 4th time, and tried to used flashers. They did not work. Since repair of clutch cable, turn signals do not work. Checked fuse. It was melted into the fuse block. Had to use pliers to remove. How to fix? and cause?

Rewire to unused fuse slot? Original slot is melted also. Have not yet seen the bottom of fuse panel.

Why would flasher use cause this meltdown?
