That Pesky bush 200

You know the one, it's mounted on what they call the diff, that is the axle housing, and the rear trailing arm pivots on it with the rear coil spring mounted out behind. I got the replacement in the mail today so decided to fit it.
What a terrible theory.
I actually haven't seen a bush quite like this ever . It was oval in shape being about 40mm diameter, were it round. There was a weird rubber formation inside the outer ring, heavy rubber on the side marked 'down', a smaller amount on the upside and no rubber on either side.
The outer ring of the old bush I smashed out was split, and after I had rammed the new one almost home I understood that someone had probably sliced it this way to get it home.
I simply failed to smash mine to the correct spot. I even got the block splitter as my very big hammer but to no avail, it simply wasn't going to be rammed into correct position. The problem I think is the housing is flexible so hammering will only bounce. I had no tool to drift it and really didn't wish to spend half a day making tool number XK375639$&2 to do the right kind of drifting.
Thus I resolved to put the bloody thing together with a slight offset.
By that stage I had come close to destroying the new $50 bush, but I saw that the rear geometry would not be affected by deflecting the trailing arm slightly to accommodate my lack of correctness.
So the damn thing is in there and it's all back together. BUT, that damn clunky rattly sound is still there, though without the big clunk that would happen over any decent bump before, always did sound like it was coming from the front, must have been hearing two different clunks.
I swapped the lower ball joint awhile back to cure the same noise. I now conclude it just has to be the front shock absorber. If I can eradicate that nasty little noise the car will be a true limo.Luckily I have the spare car so I'll swap the left front strut in the next few days.
It's starting beautifully since the Crank Angle Sensor swap and with good tail lights and nice door trim and all body trim fitted and a good steering wheel and drivers seat, this car is really starting to come together.
