After R & R-ing a dashboard and replacing a heater-fan motor, I found these 5 electrical problems. Only #s 1 & 2 are related to the dash R & R. # 5 is new in my experience.

1. No flashers - turn or 4-way: The 4-way flasher switch had pulled apart (from push-pull on the center vertical console face) and the interior metal contacts had fallen out. Replaced the switch - all now work.

2. No power windows: Ground to the relay was not reconnected - at upper-right on the center-control stanchion, just left of the glove-box door, where 5 ground wires are connected. (When I pulled the dash, I wrote on my notes that there were 5 ground wires. When I reinstalled, I could only find 4 and thought I'd miscounted.)

- When I was moving the center console face re #1 above, I heard the relay clicking as the loose wire touched ground.

3. No rear wipers: broken wire in hinge.

4. No dome light: Bulb was bad and the switch contacts needed to be cleaned. (The glove-box light was also out - also a bad bulb).

5. No power door locks: Inspected the wires that go through door-hinge area. Wires were fine. Pulled the actuator rod from the driver's door and found (serendipitously) that the rod coming down from the knob was screwed tight into the actuator - clockwise as you'd expect from installing the lock knob. With the rod loosened, and the knob installed gently, all 5 electric locks work as they should.

Two lessons

a) I assumed that the power door locks, power windows, dome light, glove-box light, were related - as sometimes occurs. They weren't.

b) A friend had just purchased the car and he had no history. Next time I pull the dash on an unknown 240 I'll run through the basic electrical functions 1st.
