Speedo stopped working 900 1993

I just finished the head gasket on my daughters 940 Turbo a week ago,now the darn speedo stopped working. I don't think it's a speed sensor because the ABS light is not on. I have heard the clusters in these cars are crappy. The gas gauge works when it feels like it.We can live with that because I taught how to use the trip meter to monitor gas in the tank. However the speedometer needs to work so she doesn't get a ticket. Any ideas or directions ?
