low temp on gauge 200 1993

good morning,

The temperature gauge on my wagon had been going towards red when stuck in city traffic in the summer, so I decided to change the thermostat. Everything else checked out - fan clutch, changed radiator fluid. And now the temp "normal" reading is at 8:00 (used to be 9) and when in heavy hot conditions goes up to 9:00. The mileage is the same as before (approx.25 mpg) and the car runs great (300,000 miles). Is this something I should ignore and adjust to, or does a sensor need changing or is something else going on?

thanks-John
