Thanks to the archives and Art's pictures I was able to replace the OD solenoid with a used one. The first sign of trouble was delayed OD engagement when cold.
As time passed it just never engaged. The solenoid did click but after removal
I found it's clogged up. Used the box end of a 12 mm combination wrench and loosened the solenoid bolts without lowering the transmission. A lighted inspection mirror was helpful.
