92 245 Instrument Clusterfuck 200 1992

Out of the frying pan and into the fire...

My odometer stopped working a couple of weeks ago, so I ordered the 25-tooth gear from IPD as well as the temperature board bypass kit because my temp gauge has been erratic lately, going up towards the red zone every once in a while.

I pulled the instrument panel, no problem. Pretty easy, really. I took the speedo apart and was glad to find that the tiny odometer gear had a tooth missing. Great! I replaced it with the new gear and put the speedo back together, then moved on to bypassing the temp board. When I pulled the board, the terminals (1 and 3) that I needed to jump completely broke off from the circuit board. I tried to solder the jumper wire to what was left, but it turns out I suck at soldering.

I put the instrument panel back into the car. The temp gauge no longer works, of course. But neither does the odometer. The speedometer still does, luckily.

I’ll take the speedo apart again. Maybe the broken gear tooth is still in there? Any other suggestions?

Does anybody know how to bypass the temp gauge board with a broken circuit board? Is it possible to install a 3rd-party temp gauge and how hard would that be?

Or, does anyone have a working K39200 instrument cluster to sell?
