transmission solenoid problem 200 1990

hi fellow brickster need help and opinion. changed out shift linkage rod bushing last month and thur my own doing replace the selector side in the middle hole instead of the one up top. this lowered the rod and has cause a problem in that the shift rod sheared the electrical wire out of solenoid and I lost overdrive. problem volvo dealers discontinued selling them also FCP, IDP would have to find it may take week or more. I am 350 mile from home drove the car there for work this week. have 1,2,3 gears. what everyone opinion about driving in 3nd gear for those many miles home where I have located a solenoid.I'm in the new jersey, delaware.philly area now. thanks for any help given
