87 Rear Caliper Question – What are these things and do I need them? 200 1987

I’m replacing two seized rear calipers on my 87. The old calipers have these things hanging off the back of the calipers by the springs (see picture). The new (reman) calipers have a spot for these things to be attached, but the things aren’t there. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what their purpose is. Regardless, I’m going to tear them off the old calipers, mostly because they won’t fit in the return boxes as-is.
