The engine on my 88 240 started reviving. I cleaned the IAC and no change. I then cleaned the TB and that resulted in high idle. That was followed up by adjusting the throttle body adjustment and the link rod, checking the intake hose, making sure everything was clamped and put back. I also replaced the gasket a couple of times, checked for the clicking before putting the tb back in, after it was back in, after putting the link rod back on and after driving. The revving persists. I am thinking it might have something to do with the adjustment of the throttle rest screw. I turned the screw until it just touches the lever and then turned it an additional 1/4 and 1/2 turn then tightened the lock nut. There is some play in the throttle switch when the throttle rest screw is backed off. When you rotate the tb, the throttle switch does move. When adjusting the screw I have moved the lever to its farthest position (without it moving anything else)away from the screw and adjusted the screw from there. Should I be pressing the lever towards the screw? Any ideas? Thank you for any suggestions and to those who have posted about this subject already.
