back to the old leaking windshield trick 92 245 200

hi sages - this is for sages who have actually r and r d the windshield. mine is not busted but leaks at the top during a heavy hard rain and also leaks down from the plastic panels on the rf onto the carpet and soaks it. windshield was already replaced once by the prior owner at least 5 years ago.they dud a lousy job. worried that the occassional soaking on the rf carpet will cause the floor to rust and be a big payday for a shyster.never attempted removing a windshield since comprehensive ins always paid for it when a stone or bullet cracked it. figure $200 just for windshield replacement. suspect the metal carrier where the windshield sits is rusted or pinholed. this makes it a big job. do know too that removing a good windshield usually busts it. so figure it will be a goner. is this leaking corrected usually by welding or with some plastigoop type product(ie black rubber butyl , por 15 or a magical 3M type product). hope my bruthas who have been in this war, can advise me. dont want to move to clip city or have to junk the car any time soon since 3 pedal wagons of any make are impossible to find. thanks tons oldduke
