Copper in the oil pan. 900 1997

My 97 960 is starting to misbehave. The alarm system goes off on key entry about 50% of the time, and the tail lights stay lit whether the headlight switch is on or off. This morning I did the oil change and found a bunch of copper in the bottom of the drain pan. Being an old engine builder, I know that this is a bad sign, but the engine is running perfectly with no tapping or knocking that I usually associate with bearing failure. Has anyone had some experience with the inline six as far as replacing the bearings? This engine has 207,000 miles.

Thanks,
