Tranny install guidance 200 1984

Hello All

I'm in the midst of installing a new old M46 in my "84 245, and I'm having a hell of a time acheiving final insertion. I'm over the hump with the starter housing and I'm within an inch or less of where it needs to be.
New clutch was aligned with a proper alignment tool before I commenced this phase, but I'm wondering if I knocked it out of alignment and need to back out and start again (nighmare), of just keep finagling until it finally meshes.

Or is there some trick I'm missing? Motor mounts are loosened and right side of engine is presently raised.

Thanks as always
